ARMED ROBBER FLEES SHOP WITH CASH AND CIGS

Antrim serious crime suiteDETECTIVES in Antrim are appealing for information following an armed robbery in the Main Street area of Crumlin last night.

Police say that just before 11pm, a man armed with a suspected firearm entered a convenience store and demanded money and cigarettes from the staff.

The man is thought to be aged in his mid to late 20s and was wearing a dark coloured hooded top.

He made off with a sum of cash and a quantity of cigarettes.

Detective Inspector David Skelly said: “I would appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to contact CID at Antrim Police Station on the non emergency number 101.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
