HUNDREDS of people have gathered at the steps of Stormont Buildings today to protest at cuts to teacher training funding.

Among those were scores of students from St Mary’s College in west Belfast.

Also there were representatives from trade union UNISON.

They showed their support for St Mary’s College joining the rally at Stormont in a call to reinstate funding to the teaching college.

Minister Stephen Farry has axed millions of pounds off its funding.

He wants to amalgamate St Mary’s and Stranmillis teacher training collegs, a move rejected by student teachers, staff, unions and politicians.
