MAN BEATEN WITH HAMMERS IN SOUTH BELFAST HOUSE ATTACK

Police crime scene picPOLICE are appealing for information over an aggravated assault in south Belfast.

It happened in the Kimberley Street area on Tuesday teatime.

Detective Constable McKeown said tonight: “At around 6.24pm on Tuesday 20th January Police received a report of an aggravated assault in the Kimberley Street area.

“Three males who had their faces covered with scarves entered a property and then attacked a 22 year old male with hammers.

“One male of these males is described as being around 6’ tall and wearing an orange puffa style jacket.

“The other males are believed to have been wearing yellow, high visibility style coats.

“The 22 year old male was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries that are not considered life-threatening.”

“Anyone who may have saw males matching these descriptions in the area at this time, or indeed anyone who may have noticed males acting suspiciously in the area is asked to contact police on 101.

“Alternatively information can be provided anonymously through independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
