YOUTH REMANDED OVER NORTH BELFAST HIJACKING

Laganside Court houseA 17-year-old teenager has been remanded in custody over a hijacking in north Belfast.

He was one of five males arrested on Sunday following a hijacking off the Cavehill Road.

Officers from the PSNI’s Auto Crime Team and detectives from Repeat Offender Unit helped to stop the car using a stinger device.

The police helicopter was also used to keep track of the vehicle.

The teenager appeared at Belfast Youth Court on Monday charged with a series of motoring offences including hijacking.

He was remanded into custody to appear at a later date.

A second male aged 19 was also charged with a series of motoring offences and he will appear at Belfast Magistrates Court next month to answer those charges.
