TWO men are to face a court next month charged with assaulting a Nigerian national in Belfast city centre yesterday.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “At approximately 3.00pm on Wednesday 14 January 2015, police officers on patrol in Castle Street in the city centre were flagged down by members of the public who reported an ongoing assault.
“Police responded and a 21 year old male and a 28 year old male were arrested at the scene on suspicion of common assault.
“These two males were subsequently charged with common assault and are scheduled to appear Belfast Magistrates’ Court on 11th February 2014.
“The injured party in this incident, who is originally from Nigeria, passed on his thanks to those who sought police assistance.”
