Police arrest three men over the murder of drug dealer Brian McIlhagga

THREE men have been arrested by detectives investigating the murder of Brian McIlhagga in Ballymoney last week.

Detectives from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team arrested the three men aged 24, 41 and 48 in the town today.

They have have been taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Antrim Police Station for questioning.

The 42-year-old victim was killed by a masked gang outside a house at Riverview Park in Ballymoney just before 10.30pm last Monday.

The father-of-five, from Ballymena, had been beaten and shot in the leg.

Despite resuscitation efforts by neighbours, he died at the scene.

Police said he had suffered a “sustained and vicious attack”.

Mr McIlhagga had been visiting his girlfriend at the time.

She was beaten in the attack and needed hospital treatment for her injuries.

Three men arrested in connection with the murder have all been released unconditionally.
