UUP MLA Michael McGimpsey says Sandy Row needs homes not 391 student flats

SOUTH Belfast UUP MLA Michael McGimpsey will tell Environment Minister Mark H Durkan today: We don’t student flats in Sandy Row.

Said Mr McGimpsey ahead of the talks: “I’m meeting with the Environment Minister Mark Durkan today to discuss the planning application to build 391 student flats in Sandy Row.

“This is a completely inappropriate development in the heart of a long standing residential community.

“I will be accompanied by local representatives from Sandy Row Community Forum who are very much opposed to the application.

“I have already met with the planners to voice our opposition and will be doing so again with the Minister in the strongest terms.

“We cannot allow Sandy Row to go as other areas have done in the past.

“I totally agree that we need more homes for people to allow the area to grow and strengthen.”
