AN investigation has been launched over the death of a man who was struck by a train on the outskirts of Belfast.

He was hit by the Belfast to Dublin Enterprise train at Dunmurry Halt on the Lisburn line at about 2.45 pm on Monday afternoon.

The emergency services were called to the scene and the rail track was closed for a time. It has now reopened.

Police have begun an investigation.

A PSNI spokesperson said the death was not being treated as suspicious.
