ELDERLY MAN ROBBED AT ATM IN NORTH BELFAST

Police car collectPOLICE in Belfast are appealing for information following the report of a robbery in the York Road area of Belfast on the afternoon of Thursday, 18th December.

It is reported that a 72 year old man had just visited an ATM at approximately 3.45 pm and had withdrawn a sum of cash when two unknown teenage males approached him.

They knocked him to the ground before taking the money from him and making off towards CitySide.

The man was not injured in the incident but was deeply shocked.

Speaking of the incident, Constable Billy Millen said: “This was a despicable act and a terrible ordeal for this elderly gentleman to endure on the run up to Christmas.

“I would ask anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information which may be of assistance to contact Police on the non-emergency number 101.

“Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
