AN investigation has been launched after a man has been taken to hospital after getting trapped in a pit in Hillsborough, Co Down.

Seven fire engines were deployed to the incident at Comber Road on Friday morning.

The man was removed from the pit by fire crews and has been taken to hospital for treatment.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The Health and Safety Executive is now investigating.
