MAN CHARGED OVER SPATE OF DISTRACTION THEFTS ON PENSIONERS

Laganside Court housePSNI detectives have arrested a man in Liverpool on suspicion of a series of thefts from elderly people in Northern Ireland earlier this year.

The 28-year-old was arrested on Friday during a planned intelligence-led operation between the PSNI and Merseyside police.

He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.

PSNI Det Sgt Mark Bell said he had been charged with 12 offences “linked to distraction thefts and fraud between the dates of 2 May and 23 June”.
