KNIFE-POINT ROBBERY BID AT SOUTH BELFAST TAKEAWAY

PSNIDETECTIVES in south Belfast are appealing for information following an attempted robbery at a fast food takeaway on the Ormeau Road.

It happened on the evening of Thursday 4th December.

It was reported that a man armed with a knife entered the premises at around 10.15pm and demanded money.

Members of staff refused to hand over any money and challenged the man who made off citywards on foot, empty handed.

The man was described as being around 5’9” tall and was wearing a blue woollen hat, a red & black coat, with a red scarf covering his face.

At around 10.30pm police received a report that a woman had been threatened by a man, armed with a knife, and had her handbag stolen, in Rugby Avenue.

There were no reports of any injuries in either incident.

This male was of a similar description to the person involved in the first incident and officers are investigating a link between the two incidents.

Detective Sergeant Neil Maxwell has appealed for anyone who has any information about either incident to contact CID in Musgrave on 101.

Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
