WOMAN BRUTALLY ASSAULTED AND ROBBED IN EAST BELFAST

PSNIPOLICE are appealing for information after the report of a robbery in the Ravenhill Road area of East Belfast last night.

Inspector John McIntyre said: “Shortly after 10:20pm, it was reported that a woman in her 50’s was approached from behind, struck on the back of the head and knocked to the ground. She had her wallet, credit cards and house keys taken.

“As a result of the attack she has been left badly shaken and had to receive hospital treatment minor injuries sustained.

“I appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or was in the area and noticed anything suspicious or has any information to contact police at Strandtown on the non emergency number 101.

“Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
