POLICE say they “disillusioned and disgraced” after an elderly woman’s home was burgled while she was at church last night.

A spokesman said: “This was the property of an elderly resident on the Mourneview estate in Lurgan who had left her home for a short while in order to attend Mass at her local church.

“Police are appealing for any information in regards to this incident and needs the help of the community in putting a stop to this type of crime which is becoming a scourge on society.

“Communities have to take an active interest in looking after each other and their homes particularly the elderly and vulnerable members of society.”
