NORTH Belfast DUP MLA William Humphrey has appealed for information that will help the police catch the male who crashed a stolen car on the Woodvale Road at around 4pm this afternoon.

William Humphrey said: ““This stolen car was being pursued by the police when it crashed into a parked car close to the bend on Woodvale Road. It is a huge relief that those inside the parked car were not seriously injured or worse.

“The driver of the stolen car ran off into Woodvale Park and, regretfully, managed to escape.

“I appeal for anyone who can assist the police to catch this male to bring that information forward.

“The Ford Escort was stolen this afternoon at White Brae, Ligoniel. This reckless car thief drove at high speed towards a busy shopping area. This evening we, in this community, are very fortunate that we are not talking very serious injuries or loss of life.”
