MEN TO FACE COURT OVER ROBBERY BID

LTWO men are due in court tomorrow morning over a foiled robbery bid.

Detective Inspector Cherith Craig has confirmed that detectives in Derry have charged two men aged 19 with attempted robbery, conspiracy to rob and possession of an offensive weapon.

It relates to an incident on Friday on Northlands Road.

They are both due to appear at Derry Magistrates’ Court on Monday 13th October.

As is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

According to PSNI Detective Inspector Craig, a man entered the shop armed with a knife and demanded money.

No money was handed over and the suspect was restrained by members of the public and duly arrested on arrival of police at the scene.

A second man believed to have been involved in this incident was arrested a short time later.
