Inspector Paul McCarron explains: “Police received an initial report at around 8pm that a man had threatened his neighbours whilst in possession of a suspected firearm.

“Police attended the scene and arrested two men and commenced a search of the flat they had been in. A number of items have been recovered from the flat which will be examined further.

“The search of the flat is continuing at this time and the two men remain in custody helping with enquiries. There are no further details at present.”

Anumber of imitation weapons and knives have been recovered.

At this stage the investigation is not terrorist related.
