A MAN has been charged over an attack on a woman yesterday.

Newry Area Commander Davy Beck has confirmed that detectives at Ardmore CID have charged a 31 year old man with attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault and assault on police.

The man is due to appear at Newry Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, October 8.

As is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

The charges relate to an incident in the Mourne View Park area of Newry yesterday afternoon, October 6.
