THREE PSNI OFFICERS INJURED IN STOLEN CAR CHASE

Police scene armed copA MAN was arrested after police officers from west Belfast stopped a stolen vehicle this week.

The car had been circulated to all PSNI districts after it was stolen from the Newtownabbey area earlier on Tuesday morning.

After following it, the driver of the silver Seat Leon was arrested when it came to a halt in the Springhill Grove area.

Speaking of the arrest, Inspector Mike White, Woodbourne Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “The man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, taking and driving away (TADA),  failing to provide a specimen, driving while unfit through drink or drugs, no insurance, no driving licence, resisting police and assault on police.

“He has been released on Police bail, pending further enquiries.

“Three officers sustained injuries during the arrest which are not thought to be life threatening.”
