DETECTIVES are quizzing a 24-year-old man who was arrested in connection with the stabbing of a pensioner in west Belfast.

The victim, who was in his 60s, was attacked on the Springfield Road at 6.40 am this morningy.

Chief Inspector Bobby Singleton said: “A man is currently being treated in hospital for his injuries where his condition was described as serious but stable.”

He appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact police on the non 101 emergency number.
