DETECTIVES are investigating after a man suffered slash wounds to his back and side.

Police say he was attacked in Crossgar, Co Down on Sunday night.

He was walking along the Kilmore Road just before 11 pm when a Volkswagen Golf was driven past him.

It then turned around and drove back towards him when three men then got out of the vehicle and assaulted him.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

Detectives at Downpatrick CID have appealed for anyone who witnessed the attack to contact them on the non-emergency 101 number.
