POLICE in Newry are appealing for information after a report of suspicious activity at residential premises.

The incident happened at the Pound Street area yesterday evening (Thursday 24th July).

Shortly before 8:30pm, it was reported that a number of males approached a house in the area.

It is believed that the males threatened the female resident. Enquiries are continuing.

At this stage, police are treating the incident as a hate crime.

Police are investigating the reports and we would appeal to anyone who has any information in relation to the incident to contact police on the non-emergency number 101.
