Man being quizzed at Ardmore police station over murder bid

A 57-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

He was arrested by detectives following an assault in Newry, Co Down in the early hours of this morning.

A 27-year-old man was found with stab injuries to his chest shortly before 3 am.

Police say the incident happened at a house in Carnagh Park in the city.

The injured man is believed to be in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

The arrested man was also treated for stab injuries to his leg which are not believed to be life-threatening.

He is currently being held at Newry’s Ardmore police station for questioning.
