POLICE SEIZE £30,000 OF CANNABIS DURING HOUSE SEARCH

PSNIPOLICE are jubilant after neighbourhood cops searched a property in the Ashley Park area of Dunmurry in wcst Belfastlast night and uncovered cannabis worth £30,000.

Neighbourhood police boss Inspector Peter Brannigan said: “Not only are the drugs produced in these factories hazardous but often we find the cannabis factories are actually operating in very dangerous circumstances,.

“They are frequently located in vacant or derelict properties where the structures have been compromised or where electricity is being illegally abstracted.

“Information provided by local people is vital in helping us to identify properties where drugs activity may be taking place.

“It can also help us track down those involved in drugs distribution in the local area and assist in building up sufficient evidence to shut down their activities and take them off the streets for good.

“Drugs are a scourge on society, destroying lives and families and I would encourage local people to contact us if they have suspicions about any person or place, or if they believe they can help us identify those involved in the local drugs trade. I can assure you – we will listen.”

Information can be given by telephoning the non emergency number 101.

Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
