COUPLE FOIL NORTH BELFAST CAR HIJACK BID

Police crime scene picDETECTIVES in north Belfast are appealing for information following the report of an attempted hijacking.

The incident happened in the Lake Glen Drive area of Belfast at approximately 9.50pm on Monday evening, July 7.

It is reported that a 29 year old male and a 27 year old female were sitting parked in a black Volkswagen Polo when the vehicle was approached by two unknown men.

Police say One of the men hit the windscreen of the car with a triangular shaped metal object, it is believed, in an attempt to gain access to the car.

The driver of the vehicle then reversed at speed onto the Falls Road, before driving off.

One of the suspects was observed walking down the Falls Road, country wards.

One of the men is described as being approximately 27-28 years old, 5ft 9’ in height, and of medium build.

He was wearing a dark coloured tracksuit top, dark coloured shorts, white tennis socks and black and grey trainers.

He had a shaved head and spoke with a local accent.

The other of the two men is described as being approximately 27-28 years old, 6ft tall and of slim build; he was wearing a dark coloured tracksuit and also spoke with a local accent.

Police would ask anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact Detectives at Tennent Street on the non-emergency number, 101.
