DETECTIVES from the PSNI’S Terrorist Investigation Unit (TIU) have released four men arrested over north Belfast UVF murders pending reports to the Public Prosecution Service.

The men, aged 40, 42, 47 and 51 were arrested in north Belfast on Monday.

All four were questioned about the murder of 55-year-old Sean McParland in February 1994.

The 47-year-old man was also questioned about the murders of Gary Convie, 24, and Eamon Fox, 44, in May 1994.

Mr Convie and Mr Fox were shot while they were sitting in their car at a building site in North Queen Street on 17 May 1994.

Mark Haddock has been linked to being involved in the shooting.

Mr McParland was shot in Skegoneill Avenue in February 1994 while babysitting. He died a week later.

Several properties were also searched during the police operation in north Belfast on Monday morning.

Police said the arrests were part of Operation Stafford, an investigation into a series of murders and other serious crimes by the UVF in north Belfast.
