NI ROADS CLAIM SECOND MOTORCYCLE VICTIM OF WEEKEND

Police accidentPOLICE have confirmed that a 44 year old motorcyclist has died in a road traffic collision.

He is the second motorcyclist to die on Northern Ireland’s roads this weekend.

The latest victim died on the Deerpark Road in Bellaghy.

The collision was reported to police at around 8.30pm last night, Saturday, May 31.

Investigating officers are keen to hear from witnesses and can be contacted by calling the non-emergency number 101.

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time.

Earlier on Saturday, a 49 year old motorcyclist died in a road accident.

The motorcycle he was riding collided with a Suzuki SX4 on the Loughareema Road in Cushendun, Co Antrim at around 10.35 am this morning.

Officers from the PSNI’s Colllision Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances of the collision and would like to speak to witnesses.

They can be contacted on the non-emergency number 101.

Following the crash, the road was closed between it’s junction with Knocknacarry Road/Tromra Road and Cushleake Road.

Diversions were put in place.
