DETECTIVES are investigating after a man was attacked with a hammer.

It’s understood the 54 year old answered his front door in Parkmore in Craigavon around 4.15am this morning and was confronted by a masked male armed with a claw hammer.

The assailant struck the victim with the hammer and a struggle ensued.

The victim sustained a number of facial injuries including an injury to his eye before his attacker made off.

Police would like to hear from any witnesses, or anyone with information that could assist the investigation.
