PENSIONER REMAINS CRITICALLY ILL AFTER NORTH BELFAST HOUSE FIRE

FIRE-SERVICE donegalAN 80-year-old man remains critically tonight in hospital after being pulled from an accidental fire at a house in north Belfast earlier today.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus carried out a search of the property on Carlisle Road, in the New Lodge area, around 6. 30 am.

They found the pensioner unconscious in a first floor bedroom.

He was rushed by paramedics to the Mater Hospital for treatment.

Two appliances from Whitla Fire Station and one appliance from Westland Fire Station attended the incident.
