A teenage girl is fighting for her life in hospital after a single car road crash in Co Down.

The accident happened on Tuesday in Crossgar, County Down.

She was a passenger in a Renault Clio car that left the Drumnaconagher Road around 1:.35 pm.

The teenage male driver was treated for shock. No other vehicle was involved in the accident.

The road was closed but reopened to traffic on Tuesday night.

Police have appealed for witnesses to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101.
