MAN REMANDED OVER CROSSBOW MURDER BID IN SOUTH BELFAST

Laganside Court houseA MAN has been remanded in custody charged with attempted murder over a crossbow attack in south Belfast.

Thomas Anthony Cawley, of Belgravia Avenue, Belfast, is also charged with possessing a crossbow and a hammer when he faced Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

The charges are connected to the attack on a man who was shot in the arm with a crossbow as he sat in a car in Belgravia Avenue on Wednesday.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. A woman who was in the car at the time of the attack cheated injury.

Cawley, 28, was refused bail after the court heard from a police officer who said he was a “a danger to the general public”

He is due to appear in court again on 20 June.
