POLICE HUNT CRIME GANG OVER EAST BELFAST ASSAULT AND ROBBERY ON COUPLE

Police sceneDETECTIVES are continuing to appeal for information following a crime gang armed robbery at a house in the Upper Newtownards Road area of east Belfast on Sunday night.

Three males, one armed with a suspected handgun forced their way into a house in the area and threatened the couple inside.

The couple were assaulted and tied up by the intruders who made off with a large quantity of jewellery.

The couple were taken to hospital for treatment for their injuries.

Police would also appeal to three males who were seen in the area of Oakland Avenue, Belfast at approximately 10.30pm on Sunday, 18 May to contact Police, as they may be able to help them with their enquiries.

Detectives would appeal to the three males or anyone who may have any information to contact them on the new non emergency number 101.
