Detectives at Woodbourne appeal over armed robbery

DETECTIVES at Woodbourne CID are investigating an armed robbery at a shopping centre in Andersonstown yesterday.

At around 3pm a male entered a currency exchange business in Avoca Park. He threatened a female employee with a handgun demanding money.

The robber forced the employee to open the till and hand over a large sum of cash which he placed in a bag before making off.

The culprit is described as being in his 40s or 50s and approximately 5′ 7″ tall.

It’s believed this male may have been dressed as a painter wearing white overalls, a dust mask and carrying a tin of paint.

Anyone who was in the area and who witnessed the robbery or who can identify the male involved is asked to contact police on the new non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively if someone would prefer to provide information without leaving their name they can contact the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
