PETROL BOMBS THROWN AT POLICE IN SOUTH BELFAST

PSNIDETECTIVES are investigating after a number of petrol bombs and stones were thrown at police during trouble in the Sandy Row area of south Belfast.

It is not yet known what sparked the disturbances on Sunday night.

There are no reports of any injuries.

A PSNI spokeswoman said officers worked with community representatives in the area to restore calm.

Police evidence spotters will now sift through CCTV footage to try and identify the troublememakers.

Anyone with information about the violence is asked to contact detectives at Musgrave Street PSNi station on 101.
