DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Terrorist Investigation Unit have arrested a man over the murder of north Belfast drug dealer Kevin Kearney last year.

The body of the 46-year-old father was found in a lake at Alexandra Park a day after he was shot dead while out walking his dogs on Tuesday, October 8.

Police believe dissident republicans who carried out the murder had been monitoring his movements minutes after he dropped his children off to school.

The alarm was raised when his dogs returned home without him.

The 32-year-old suspect was arrested in the Docks area of north Belfast on Tuesday morning.

He is currently being questioned at the serious crime suite in Antrim about the murder.

The suspect is the latest in a number of people who have been arrested over the killing..

However, to date, no-one has been charged over his murder.

A group calling itself ‘The IRA’ later admitted responsibility for the murder.
