DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Terrorist Investigation Unit have released a 44-year-old man in connection with a mortar bomb attack on police Land Rover in west Belfast last month.
He was arrested west Belfast this morning and taken to the serious crime suite in Antrim for questioning.
Following over 12 hours of questioning, he was released from custody “unconditionally”.
The device was detonated by remote control as officers passed the City Cemetery on the Falls Road on 14 March.
No-one was injured but a family’s car was hit by flying shrapnel.
Self-styled dissident republican group ‘The IRA’ later claimed responsibility for the attack.
