DIRTY FAKING ROOFERS STEEL CASH FROM ELDERLY MAN

Ardmore PSNI stationDETECTIVES are appealing for information following a distraction burglary at the home of an elderly man.

The incident happened in the Hillview Avenue area of Carrickfergus shortly after 5pm on Thursday.

Police said two men called at the home offering to do work on the roof of the house.

“They were allowed into the property and while the householder went to make them a cup of tea they stole two wallets containing a sum of cash from the living room before making off,” the spokesman said.

“It is believed the pair made off in a dark blue-coloured van or jeep towing a trailer. The elderly householder was left shaken but uninjured.”

One of the men is described as being aged in his 40s, approximately 5ft 7in tall, of stocky build with short dark hair. The second male is described as being aged in his 20s, approximately 5ft 11in tall, athletic build with frizzy or curly hair.
