Detectives at Strand Road appeal for information after man is shot in the knee

A 20-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being shot.

A gang of three men are thought to have been involved in the incident in which the man was shot in one knee in Osborne Street in Derry’s Rosemount area around 11.00 pm on Sunday night.

They broke into a house and two of them ran upstairs where they shot the man in his right knee.

He was taken by ambulance to Altnagelvin Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Another man and a woman who were in the house at the time were held at gunpoint in a downstairs room by one of the gang.

Detectives at Strand Road are appealing for information about the incident..

A PSNI spokesperson asked anyone with information to contact police on the non-emergency number, 101.
