SCHOOL girl Rachael O’Connor is out of this year’s TV talent show “The Voice.”

The 17-year-old from Drumurn, Co Derry who had been installed as the contest’s favourite from her first appearance, lost out on a public vote in last night’s quarter-final show which was broadcast live on BBC One.

Following her elimination, Rachael said: “I can’t thank Kylie enough – let’s hope some day we can share the same stage.”

In last night’s quarter-final, the Limavady Grammar School student lost out to Jamie Johnson as pop superstar Kylie Minogue’s “Fast Pass” to next week’s semi-final which will feature 12 contestants.

The Drumsurn 17-year-old – the youngest contestant left in the competition – went on to lose out on a public vote.

Following her rendition of “Shine a Light,” she had appealed to viewers to vote for her.

She said: “Please pick up the phone…. I won’t let you down.”
