PSNI seize £450,000 worth of cannabis in east Belfast

DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Organised Crime Branch have arrested a 38-year-old man as part of an ongoing probe into a £450,000 cannabis resin seizure in east Belfast.

The intelligence-led operation took place on Monday in the Hollycroft Avenue area of the city.

The drugs were seized but no arrests were made at the time.

However, as part of a following up operation, PSNI detectives on Tuesday carried out a searches at three addresses in the Donegall Pass, Donegall Road in south Belfast and the Short Strand area of east Belfast.

Here officers found more drugs which they believe was linked to a criminal operation.

Cannabis with an estimated street value of £40,000 was recovered during the searches.

Police also recovered a number of items which were taken away for forensic examination.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of drugs trafficking offences in connection with the seizure at Hollycroft Avenue seizure and is currently in custody.
