DETECTIVES have launched an investigation after a 23-year-old man was seriously injured after being assaulted.

The attack happened outside a bar in Newcastle’s Main Street in the early hours of Sunday.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment to a serious head injury and a broken collarbone.
