POLICE are advising motorists to slow down and take extra care on the roads on New Year’s Eve.

It follows heavy overnight rain across the province.

A lot of surface water on the Sydenhan Bypass this morning and the High Bangor Rd between Donaghadee and Bangor is also said to be bad in places as well.

In south Down, a tree has fallen on the Ballykeel Road in Hilltown.

The PSNI say the road is passable with care and have advised drivers to slow down in the area.
