North Belfast DUP MP Nigel Dodds appeals for information after man’s body found in north Belfast

DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team have now launched a murder inquiry in north Belfast.

It follows the discovery of a man’s body at a house in Henderson Avenue off the Cavehill Road around 1 pm on Friday.

A post mortem examination has revealed that the man was murdered but police have not yet said how.

It is understood the man found was in his 50s

DUP North Belfast MP Nigel Dodds said: “The discovery of this man’s body and the news that the police have launched a murder investigation has caused great shock and concern in the local community.

“The man’s body was discovered by a family member who called at his Henderson Avenue house at around 1pm on Friday afternoon.

“After being summoned to the scene, the PSNI have appointed a major investigation team and this death is being investigated as a murder.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with this man’s family circle who have received the worst possible news just days before Christmas.

“I appeal to anyone who can assist this major police investigation to pass on whatever nformation they have,” added Mr Dodds.
