Police at the scene of a WWIi bomb discovery in east Belfast

POLICE have revealed that a large World War II bomb has been found in east Belfast on Monday.

The discovery was made at Hamilton Road in the sprawling Harbour Estate.

Army technical officers from nearby Palace Barracks in Holywood have been tasked to the scene.

Motorists are asked to avoid Hamilton Road which is closed.

Other roads may be shut later on depending on the extent of the clearance operation needed.
