DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch have arrested a man over a bomb attack on Moira police station in 1998.

The suspect was detained in the Moy area during a dawn swoop on Thursday morning.

He has been taken to Antrim police station for questioning.

A car packed with more than 200 kg of explosives was involved in the attack on February 20, 1998,  in the Co Down village.

The blast injured 11 people and caused extensive damage to the unmanned station and surrounding properties.

It was part of a series of bomb attacks carried out by the then newly former Real IRA.
