COPS are jubilant after they believe they have nicked the culprit behind a spate of thefts, burglaries and robberies in south Belfast in recent weeks.
The PSNI in Balmoral say a male was arrested by members of Finaghy Neighbourhood Team for going equipped on Tuesday.
He came onto their radar after he was “spotted acting suspiciously” while the officers were on a burglary patrol in the area.
“Follow up searches at premises associated with this male led to the seizure of 58 items believed to be stolen.
“We have currently linked these to six of the handbag thefts from vehicles in the area within the last few weeks.
“Enquiries are ongoing and officers hope to connect them to a lot more.”
In recent weeks, police have been warning the public not to leave valuables in cars after several break-ins on parked vehicles.
Homes had also been targeted with entry being forced through the rear.
