Man to appear in court charged with attempted murder

DETECTIVES have charged a 44-year-old man with attempted murder and common assault.

He is due to appear in court later on Tuesday morning after almost 24 hours in police custody at Strand Road PSNI.

According to a PSNI spokesman, thhe charges relate to a domestic incident in the early hours of Monday morning in the Ballyharigan area in Co Derry.

The suspect will appear before Derry Magistrates’ Court.

The spokesman added that the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service as is normal procedure..
