Police seal off roads in Ballymena due to security alert

POLICE evacuated several families from their homes due to a security alert in Ballymena.

The alert began following the report of a suspicious vehicle in at Parkmore Close in the town.

Army technical officers experts were called examine the scene.

The PSNI closed Parkmore Close, Parkmore Drive, Parkmore Heights, Upper Princes Street and the Cullybackey Road and put diversions in place.

Several families spent the night in Ballymena Leisure Centre.
