Ambulance crews rush crash injured to hospital for treatment

A NUMBER of roads remain closed following a major car crash.

Nine people – including three children – were hurt during the pile up in Co Fermanagh on Friday night.

It is understood the victims sustained mostly back and neck injuries.

However, it is not yet known how many vehicles were involved in the crash.

The NI Ambulance Service said paramedic crews attended what it described as a “major incident”.

The crash happened on the A4 road between Brookborough and Fivemiletown.

John McPoland from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said:

“Because of the numbers involved, we were told possibly seven patients. We sent eight ambulances, three rapid response vehicles and a number of officers to the scene.

“On arrival we found nine patients requiring hospital treatment, including three children. Six have been taken to the south west acute hospital, including three children. Three others have been taken to Craigavon area hospital,” he said.

The PSNI has asked motorists to avoid the area if at all possible.

The road is now closed and traffic is being diverted via Clabby and Tempo.
