Police warn public over suspicious white van

POLICE in Strabane are requesting that the public to be vigilant this weekend.

They are advising people living in the Castlederg and Newtownstewart areas to be on the lookout for a small white van, which has “Dog Control’ written on it.”

A PSNI spokesperson said police were concerned that calls at houses by this vehicle may not be genuine.

The spokesperson said: “We are still looking into this, but we would urge the public to satisfy themselves as to the identity of anyone who should call with them about dogs. A genuine dog warden will have all the necessary identification with him.”
